چکیده

Abstract The reliable use of ultrasonic metal welding requires a thorough understanding the relevant bonding mechanisms. This article presents an approach to systematically investigate relation between mechanical properties and interface selected Al/Cu Al/GFRP joints. hypothesis is that microstructure tensile shear strength specimen can be related their presented by contact stiffness damage initiation traction. For this purpose, mentioned hybrid material systems were ultrasonically welded using specific parameters achieve defined levels joint strengths. Micro sections fracture surfaces characterized identify geometry at certain levels. main findings different shares bonded areas in characteristic micro geometries. Microscale finite element models representative samples developed determine stress deformation behavior under load compare influence on conditions simplified model. simulations provide information about tractions geometrical characteristics joints’ interfaces, as well contribution overall strength. prospective industrial applications, they serve basis for further development model component scale.

Relation between Residual Stress and Fatigue Strength for Electron Beam Welded Joints of Sheet Metal

Residual stresses in welds significantly affect the fatigue strength and stress corrosion crack resistance of the weld joint, and therefore, numerous studies have been made about the effects. The residual stress induced by electron beam welding (EBW) has also been researched in various approaches, but many of the study reports dealt with thick plates (50 mm or thicker) only.1–5) This was becaus...

Investigation on Tensile Strength of Friction Stir Welded Joints in PP/EPDM/Clay Nanocomposites

Polymer-based nanocomposites due to their advantages such as corrosion resistance, adequate mechanical properties and low cost are widely used in modern technologies. The increasing application of these nanocomposites, and hence their welding seems unavoidable. In this paper, a novel hottool in friction stir welding process is used for butt welding nanocomposite plates of 5 mm thick containing p...

Relation between incremental lines and tensile strength of coronal dentin.

In one aspect, this study examined the tensile strength of coronal dentin, as a function of the location of incremental lines, in two types of teeth: human molar versus bovine incisor. In another aspect, tensile strength in coronal dentin was examined with tensile loading in two different orientations to the incremental lines: parallel versus perpendicular. There were four experimental groups i...

Improving Fatigue Strength of Welded Joints by Ultrasonic Impact Treatment

Enhancement in fatigue performance of welded joints by Ultrasonic Impact Treatment (UIT) was evaluated with large-scale rolled beam and built-up specimens having yield strength of 345 to 760 MPa. Eighteen rolled-beam specimens having welded details at cover plates and transverse stiffeners and eight built-up specimens having only transverse stiffener details were fatigue tested after treating t...
